The Gift of Mortality

Podcasting

Keith Harman defines podcasting as “the process of capturing an audio event, song, speech, or mix of sounds and then posting that digital sound object to a Web site or “blog”.
In this way, Podcast/Vodcast becomes a very useful learning material or tool for EFL Teachers. Because they can be adadpted to a class as input of native speaking language; thus, student will get familiar to a real conversation and not only to their teacher's way of speaking.
The basic advantage of podcasting in education is the portability and convenience of listening to learning resources anytime and anywhere without requiring extensive technical knowledge. Podcasts can be automatically downloaded to almost all kinds of mobile devices, such as MP3 players, cellular phones, PDAs, and mobile computers. Learning materials downloaded into mobile devices can be listened to by learners in their own time and place. And the most interesting is that podcasts can be found FOR FREE!.
On the other hand, YOUTUBE videos are able to catch students attention, because they won't only listen to a comment but also to WATCH the clip itself. So they can relate what they are listening or "guessing" to real life situations and images so they will remind the vocabulary and language for a lifetime.
